Lithuanian Airports informs that as part of the reconstruction of Vilnius Airport's approaches and the entire traffic scheme, from 3 June passengers will be able to be dropped off and picked up by car at the newly installed car park P2, located opposite the departure terminal, which is under construction. All other services, such as taxi or car-sharing services, will be moved to this site until the end of September, when the reconstruction of Vilnius Airport's approaches will be completed and the entire central square will be open for use.
"This latest change marks the last temporary but necessary stage of the traffic transformation. From the end of September onwards, the car and public transport traffic system in the airport's approaches will become much more permeable, which will make it more convenient to arrive and depart from Vilnius Airport this autumn," says Arnas Dūmanas, Head of the Lithuanian Airports Development Department.
As of 3 June, the PC and P3 sites currently used by passengers will be closed for the final phase of the reconstruction, and the main entrance to the new car park will be temporarily relocated (see diagram).
In the autumn, once the reconstruction is completed, twice as many spaces will be available in the so-called "Kiss & fly" zone for short-term stops. This area will be located under a new canopy that will protect arriving passengers from rain or snow. All the current parking spaces will be combined into one, doubling the capacity.
As part of the temporary changes, pedestrians can will be able to use the renovated left side of the old ramp to walk directly to the departures terminal from the P2 stopping area in summer.
Bus stop locations
From 3 June, bus stops in the vicinity of the airport will only be located on Rodunios Kelais street (next to the AirInn Vilnius hotel and car park P4).
The bus stop for intercity buses will be located on F. Vaitkaus Street, just after the entrance from Dariaus ir Girėno Street. A free shuttle bus will run regularly between the airport and the intercity bus stop.
Tourist buses will conveniently drop off passengers at the main new parking area in front of the airport terminal, which is being completed.
