2025 11 25 at about 5.30 a.m., information was received that a cargo aircraft flying from Germany (Leipzig) had crashed outside Vilnius Airport, on Žirnių Street.

The city's special services were working at the scene and leading the rescue efforts, as well as crews from the Vilnius Airport Fire Service.

Due to the rescue work taking place in the vicinity of Vilnius Airport, the scheduled departures of several aircraft were delayed and one incoming aircraft was diverted to Riga.

At around 7.20 a.m., aircraft were able to land and depart from Vilnius Airport.
