Toilets at Vilnius Airport are being Renovated

In preparation for the runway reconstruction that will begin in less than a month, Vilnius Airport started internal restructurings by investing in major and minor repairs of toilet rooms. At the moment, some of the toilet rooms at the main airport of the country have already been repaired, while the remaining rooms are waiting for their turn. This year, toilet repairs will be completed in summer, and more changes are planned for 2018.

“It was necessary to invest in the renovation of toilet rooms at Vilnius Airport because this part of the building has not been repaired for a long time. Some rooms need major repairs, while for others, minor repairs are sufficient. One might joke that toilet rooms are probably the most frequently visited rooms in the entire airport building, so we want them to be modern. In this way, we want to make sure that the passengers are comfortable and that all of their expectations are met,” says Olaf Martens, CEO of Vilnius Airport.

O. Martens notes that there are 17 toilet rooms at Vilnius Airport in total and that they are located on all three floors of the airport building, i.e. on the first floor where passengers arrive and on the second and third floors from which they depart. Repairs in four toilet rooms on the first floor and in two toilet rooms in the general departure lounge have already been completed.

Now, major repairs are in progress in two rooms: in the Schengen Area departure lounge (near the “FilmSpot LT” cinema) and in the non-Schengen Area departure lounge. In addition, minor repairs of other rooms in the departure lounge will begin next week.

In 2018, major repairs will be done in the following areas: in the general departure lounge, in the Schengen Area departure lounge near the new “Narvesen” bookshop, near the “Coffee Hill” café and near the “Švyturys” bar. Next year, during the reconstruction of toilet rooms, four parenting rooms will be built at Vilnius Airport.

In the nearest future, major changes are planned on the outside of Vilnius Airport: on 14 July, the reconstruction of the airport runway will begin, which will last till 23:59 on 17 August. During this period, flights and passenger traffic will be moved to Kaunas Airport.
