Changes in Kaunas Airport in Preparation for Becoming Lithuania’s Aviation Centre
Preparation for the reconstruction of runway at Vilnius Airport is gaining momentum. The temporary infrastructure has already been designed and will be installed in Kaunas Airport next summer when for 35 days in July and August most passengers and flights from the capital city will be moved here.

Vilnius Airport runway reconstruction will cost nearly €25m
The runway reconstruction planned for the summer of 2017 at Vilnius Airport will cost nearly €25m to the enterprise. Such an estimate was made taking into account the prices of the necessary technical work under the project and the expenditures of other European airports for such work. The estimated price will not be increased because the open procedure for stage 1 work the value of which totals nearly €1m is already over and the tendering procedures for stage 2 work have already been launched.

From Vilnius airport a direct flight to Lviv
In early autumn this year Vilnius airport is to welcome another new development - a new direct route to the largest city in western Ukraine - Lviv. These flights are to be launched as of 16 September this year. They shall be performed throughout the year three times a week.

Two million passengers already served by Vilnius Airport this year
On 20 July Vilnius Airport served its two-millionth passenger - compared to the previous year, this milestone in passenger traffic was achieved almost a month earlier. The airport served one million travellers at the end of April; the threshold of two million passengers was reached in less than three months.

Vilnius, 19 July 2016: Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe, toady announced further expansion of its route network from Lithuania. The airline will start operating another attractive route from Vilnius to Grenoble in France. The new service will commence on 14 January and operate on Saturdays.  Tickets are already on sale at starting at only EUR 24.99*.

Lithuanian Airports: annual passenger traffic growth of 14.6 percent
After a record-breaking year of 2015 when Lithuanian Airports serviced 4.2 million passengers and operated 50,000 flights, Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga airports have no intention to stop. The 6-month statistics show that over the period from January through to June, Lithuanian Airports already serviced 2.2 million passengers, i.e. 14.6 percent more than over the same period last year. The number of flights over the same period also grew by 4.2 percent.

Vilnius Airport welcomed the thirty-millionth passenger
Thirty million passengers have already travelled through Vilnius Airport, Lithuania's main air gateway, during the twenty-five years of its existence. All seventy passengers arriving from Amsterdam with airBaltic became anniversary passengers.

Even more flights to Spain from Vilnius Airport
Vilnius Airport welcomed another new airline – the Spanish low-cost airline Vueling. It will operate one weekly flight to Barcelona on Wednesdays until 28 September. Over 100 passengers took the first flight from Vilnius.

Vilnius Airport filled with the smell of fresh-made pastries
From now on Vilnius Airport is filled with the smell of fresh-made pastries - Crustum bakery was opened at the airport. The passengers travelling to non-Schengen countries have already evaluated the new place - according to the bakery employees, there is no shortage of clients.

Vilnius Airport invites to support the poor
Vilnius Airport provides an opportunity for its passengers to support the poor - a special box was set up where travellers can leave foodstuffs or cosmetics which are not allowed in hand luggage. In partnership with the charity and support foundation Food Bank (Lith. Maisto bankas), the products collected will be given to the poor.
