Lithuania expects an influx of tourists and businessmen from Switzerland
Today Vilnius Airport welcomes the first Germania flight from Switzerland. Although regular flights between the capital of Lithuania and Zürich will commence more than a month later - on 2 June - a delegation of Swiss journalists, bloggers, travel agents and airlines representatives is arriving in Vilnius for the weekend in order to present Lithuania as an attractive tourist destination in their country.

Lithuanian Airports: operating revenues are up, expenses are down
2015 was the first year when Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga airports operated jointly as the network of Lithuanian airports. It was the year which did not only see a record number of passengers reaching 4.2m but also a double increase in net profit. Compared to 2014, it soared up 74% to EUR 2.1m.

Vilnius Airport’s environmental policy evaluated internationally
Vilnius Airport was evaluated for its efforts to reduce the environmental impact and received ACI EUROPE’s Level 1 accreditation for the annual carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and carbon footprint. Independent experts confirmed that these indicators are in line with all the requirements laid down in the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) programme and the established ISO standards.

Ryanair celebrates first Vilnius – Birmingham flights
Ryanair, Europe’s favourite airline, today (29 March) celebrated the launch of its new Vilnius to Birmingham route, which will operate twice daily, as part of its Summer 2016 schedule, and will deliver over 860,000 customers and support 650 “on-site” jobs at Vilnius Airport.

Vilnius, 23 March 2016: Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe, today announced further growth of its low fare route network from Lithuania. The airline will start operating two new routes from Vilnius connecting the Lithuanian capital with the popular holiday destinations Bari in Italy and Reykjavik in Iceland. Wizz Air’s new Vilnius services will both commence on 31 October.

Ryanair opens new Vilnius base and launches new routes
On 15 March Ryanair, the leading airline in Lithuania, announced it will open a new base at Vilnius Airport from 30 October (No 82 in total) with an investment of $200m and 2 aircraft. In 2016 Ryanair plans a traffic growth of 16% at Vilnius Airport.

Aviation experts gather in Vilnius to negotiate the route development in Europe
This weekend aviation experts from the whole Europe will gather in Vilnius – on 13–15 March the National Art Gallery will host the international aviation conference CONNECT. Over 400 representatives from more than 50 airlines and 150 airports will have an opportunity to establish new contacts, to negotiate route development possibilities and to shape the image of the future in the aviation market. The event will be hosted by Lithuanian Airports, one of the fastest growing air gateways in Europe.

Ryanair launches new Vilnius - Berlin winter route
