RYANAIR LAUNCHES NEW VILNIUS ROUTE TO AMMAN
Ryanair, Europe’s favourite airline, today (4 Feb) launched a new Vilnius route to Amman in Jordan. The route will operate twice weekly from the end of October, as part of its Winter 2018 schedule.

After the runway reconstruction Vilnius Airport is about to start its terminal modernization
After the successful completion of its runway reconstruction last summer, this year Vilnius Airport is moving inside and is about to start the reconstruction of its passenger terminal. After the modernization and expansion of the current terminal, the airport will offer passengers a faster and more convenient service as well as a wider range of goods at the airport. The first phase of renovation is about to start in February.

A new place to have coffee and buns will appear at Vilnius airport
There will be more smell of fresh bakery and coffee which does not leave any person indifferent at Vilnius airport. In March, at the arrival terminal the second “Crustum” cafe at this airport will be opened. Its installation works will be started in February and will last about one month.

The Year 2017 Brought Lithuanian Airports a Record-Breaking Abundance of Passengers and Flights
A reconstruction of the runway of Vilnius Airport that lasted for 35 summer days did not impede the Lithuanian Airports to reach a new record in 2017. Last year, three airports of the country serviced more than 5.2 million passengers in total, whereas the number of flights exceeded 55 thousand. Kaunas Airport that temporarily performed the main function of the country’s airport gates especially distinguished for great growth indicators.

Duty Free Stores of the Vilnius Airport to Undergo a Major Overhaul
Vilnius Airport has signed a new lease agreement with duty-free store operator Gebr. Heinemann SE & Co and Travel Retail Vilnius which are currently operating at the airport on the basis of joint activity. They won a public tender for the rent of commercial duty-free premises, as well as the construction and operation of duty-free stores. In February, the waiting area and trading facilities’ premises at the Departures Terminal will undergo renovation. By July, passengers will be able to enjoy even a greater choice of goods, a more comfortable store layout, and their innovative interior design.

Board Member Changes in Lithuanian Airports
Lithuanian Airports is starting the year with a newly formed Board. In January, two new independent members have joined the Board and their long-term experience will undoubtedly contribute to an even more successful business of the company. Currently, independent members comprise more than half of the renewed Board.

November Brought Rising Passenger and Flight Numbers to Lithuanian Airports
In November 2017, Lithuanian Airports serviced 414,000 customers, which is by 16% more compared to the same period last year. In addition, in November, the number of flights in all of the country’s airports increased by 8%. Good results were mainly due to the record-breaking growth of Vilnius Airport following the reconstruction of its runway and the continuous increase in the supply of scheduled flights.

Good News for Vilnius Airport Passengers Who Will Spend Less Time in Queues Now
New security check line, updated ticket scanning procedures, and additional staff members are the reasons why this November, Vilnius Airport passengers spent 8 minutes on average waiting to have their security check. This is 5 minutes or a third less compared to the last year’s numbers. The airport representatives are pleased that shorter queues were achieved especially while experiencing passenger traffic growth. Last month, the airport serviced 18% more passengers compared to the same period last year.

Wizz Air will Transport Passengers from Vilnius to Athens
Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe, continues to expand its flights network from Lithuania. From 27 March 2018, the airline will connect Vilnius with Athens in Greece. The flights will be organised three times per week: on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

The Head of Lithuanian Airports G. Almantas will Become a Member of the Company’s Board
Gediminas Almantas, CEO at Lithuanian Airports, was appointed as a dependent member of the company’s board and he will no longer act as CEO. The selection of the new CEO will be carried out by the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the owner of Lithuanian Airports. The last working day of G. Almantas as the CEO of the air gateway will be 1 March 2018.
