After the Territory of Vilnius Airport is Reorganised, Passengers will Enjoy a New Transport Scheme
Due to increasing numbers of passengers and flights, Vilnius Airport started reorganising the territory of the arrival terminal. As soon as in 2018, after the implementation of the reconstruction plan, taxi drivers and buses will drop off and pick up passengers at the transportation hub located farther away from the terminal, while access to the airport territory will be controlled by a barrier.

Traffic Changes at the Car Park Near Vilnius Airport
Some changes have occurred near the accesses to Vilnius Airport. From today, 15 free parking minutes at the short-term car park in front of the passengers arrival terminal will be available without restrictions instead of once per day.

Toilets at Vilnius Airport are being Renovated
In preparation for the runway reconstruction that will begin in less than a month, Vilnius Airport started internal restructurings by investing in major and minor repairs of toilet rooms. At the moment, some of the toilet rooms at the main airport of the country have already been repaired, while the remaining rooms are waiting for their turn. This year, toilet repairs will be completed in summer, and more changes are planned for 2018.

Passenger Throughput in Vilnius Airport Increases
Air transport in Lithuania has never been more popular: this year, airport congestion reached unprecedented levels, so Lithuanian Airports took additional measures to speed up passenger registration and checks. Until the end of the next year, passenger throughput at Vilnius Airport will increase by 60%.

The Head of Lithuanian Airports was Re-Elected to the Board of ACI Europe
Gediminas Almantas, the CEO at Lithuanian Airports, was re-elected to the Board of Airports Council International Europe (ACI Europe). It consists of 24 members, and most of them are at the head of major European airports. The representative of Lithuania is the only Board member from the entire region of the Baltic states.

Survey: Two Thirds of the Country’s Residents are Aware of the Reconstruction of the Runway in Vilnius Airport
More and more residents of the country know about the reconstruction of the runway in Vilnius Airport, which will take place from 14 July 2017 to 23:59 on 17 August, and their approval of this project increases. Such results were revealed during the second survey* conducted by the market research company “Spinter” on behalf of Lithuanian Airports in May 2017 to find out the opinion of the residents of the country as well as their awareness of the approaching project of Vilnius Airport. .

NIB finances improvements at Lithuania’s airports
The Nordic Investment Bank (NIB) and Lithuanian Airports have signed a 15 year loan agreement totalling EUR 29.6 million to co-finance upgrades to Lithuania’s three airports: Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga.

In May, Lithuanian Airports Handled More Passengers than Ever in the History of Aviation in Lithuania
May 2017 became symbolic in the history of Lithuanian aviation because Lithuanian Airports handled more than half a million passengers, i.e. 13.3% more than during the same period last year, and achieved the best result in the history of Lithuanian aviation. Until now, the record month in terms of the number of passengers was August 2016 when 481,000 passengers, that is, 6% fewer than in May 2017, were transported.

The Reconstruction of the Runway in Vilnius Airport: For Two Weeks, Aircraft will be Managed by Using a Different Navigation System
In preparation for the runway reconstruction, which will begin in two months, Vilnius Airport warns pilots about temporary changes. It is planned that for two weeks, from 30 June to 13 July, the ILS (instrumental landing system) will be deactivated at the airport  and a different navigation system, VOR/DME, will be used.

Now it is Possible to Purchase a Book at Vilnius Airport just before the Flight
Waiting for flights at Vilnius Airport has become even more comfortable. At the end of May, a “Narvesen” bookshop was opened at the departure lounge of the airport. Many books and the newest Lithuanian and foreign magazines and newspapers are available at the shop and travellers may take the opportunity to relax, read favourite publications, and have a cup of coffee here.
