The Latvian airline “airBaltic” will replace “Air Lituanica” flights and rescue the stranded passengers, affected by today’s suspension of operations of the Lithuanian carrier.

Vilnius Airport priority is providing information to Air Lituanica passengers
The airline Air Lituanica informed it has suspended its operations. Today Air Lituanica will carry out the last flights from Vilnius to/from Amsterdam, Paris and Tallinn. According to information announced by Air Lituanica, in order to minimize the difficulties for passengers, all passengers having the planned flights with Air Lituanica on May 22-29 will be transferred to the airline’s Air Baltic flights. Information on transferred flights will be provided both by the airlines and Vilnius Airport.

Vilnius Airport is the fastest growing airport in Eastern Europe
According to the international route development organisation Routesonline, the air capacity within and from Eastern Europe has risen by 97 per cent in the past ten years. Based on the company's calculations, the fastest growing gateway in Eastern Europe between 2010 and 2014 was Vilnius International Airport of Lithuania.

Lithuanian Airports Kicked off the New Year with a Record-High Passenger Growth Rate of 16.5%
The number of passengers at Lithuanian airports increased by 16.5% during the first month of this year, compared to the same calendar period last year. Kaunas Airport served as much as 29% more passengers, while Vilnius Airport and Palanga Airport had 15% and 0.2% more passengers, respectively.

SAS announced second most punctual airline in 2014
Scandinavian Airlines SAS was announced the second most on time company of all global airlines in 2014, being only 0,04% behind the winner of the competition. Last year 88,6 % of SAS flights landed on time.

Starting today connection with Sweden is even more convenient
A more active cooperation between Lithuania and Sweden encourages transport business to look for ways to improve connection between these countries. Airline Air Lituanica has decided to operate direct flights to Stockholm Bromma Airport located in the centre of Stockholm from 26 January 2015. An aircraft will be making as many as 10 flights per week from Vilnius International Airport.

Air Lituanica plans to expand in 2015
Airline Air Lituanica carried over 132,000 passengers in 2014, and over 182,000 passengers since it started operating. In 2015, it plans to carry over 200,000 passengers and expand the geography of its flights.

Turkish Airlines increase Vilnius service to Daily
Due to strong demand on its Vilnius route, Turkish Airlines, the 3rd largest carrier in Europe, will increase its flights between Vilnius and Istanbul as from March 2015. Effective from the 29th of March, the schedule will increase from 5 weekly to daily flights. The additional two flights will operate on Thursdays and Fridays using 737-800 aircrafts, which are configured for two classes: Business and Economy.

„Aeroflot“ connects Vilnius and Moscow by air already for 70 years
On December 4, Vilnius Airport and „Aeroflot“ celebrated 70th anniversary of the Vilnius – Moscow flights. Russian airline started serving the route in 1944, and in the first year „Aeroflot“ carried 48 passengers, while last year there were over 132 thousand people travelling this route.

UIA launches ticket sales for international flights from the cities of Ukraine
Within the period of Summer 2015 Schedule Ukraine International Airlines will expand its route network from the cities of Ukraine by launching non-stop scheduled service from Odessa to Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Vilnius, from Lvov to Rome, Madrid, Bologna, and Tel Aviv, as well as from Kharkov to Batumi and Tel Aviv. Ticket sales are already open.
